She has most recently found herself rumoured to be in the running to appear as a major female character in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot but Deadline today reports that former Bond girl Rosamund Pike has instead landed the love interest part in another big Warner Bros & Legendary Pictures 2012 blockbuster. Pike has been cast as Andromeda in Wrath of the Titans, the soon to be shooting sequel to Clash of the Titans, which finds Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes reprise their roles from the original alongside the recently added Edgar Ramirez (Ares, The God of War) and Toby Kebbell (Agenor). The role of Andromeda, a Princess of immense beauty whose sacrifice to the Gods via the Kraken was saved by Perseus (Worthington) in the original was played by Alexa Davalos in a small but significant turn but she was replaced for the sequel when she became 'unavailable' - though we can't help but wonder if she was politely replaced by a more experienced actress when the role became substantially larger this time around. It's probably telling that Davalos has not starred in a movie since Clash of the Titans, so claims she was 'unavailable' are hard to believe. Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: LA) directs the film, taking over duties from Louis Leterrier. The film is pegged for a March 30, 2012 release date and come talk to us the day after Battle: LA opens on March 11th to see if this director has impressed us enough to forget about those crappy horror movies he made (Darkness Falls, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning). And for God's sake, treat the 3D with care this time, guys. I want to actually see what's going on this time.
