Saw 8 Is Coming In 2017
Will it never end?!
Just when you thought you'd seen the last of Jigsaw and his various underlings, the game-loving villain is set to come back to big screens in October 2017, according to Bloody Disgusting.
The film will be directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, who have previously worked on Daybreakers and Predestination. It's to be written by the team behind Piranha, Piranha 3DD and Sorority Row, Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.
The new SAW is scheduled to shoot from September-October in Toronto, Ontario, and if the past trajectory of the franchise is anything to go by, it will amp up the traps and the gore and tune down the plot. Saying that, the scripting team do have previous with putting together diverting stories, so there may be cause to hope for more.
The franchise has so far crossed almost $900m at the worldwide box office, and is the most successful (financially at least) horror franchise of all. That's nothing to be sniffed at.
It needs to do a lot to convince former fans that it is not a soulless cash in and another unwelcome bloated sequel, but maybe there's enough reason in the world to hope that can be the case?
Or maybe the fact that it's coming out on Halloween just means people will go and see it anyway for something vaguely scary to do so they don't have to answer their doors to brats in store-bought witch costumes...
