10 Scariest Horror Movie Scenes Set In The Day
6. The Journey Along The River - Bird Box
2018 was a big year for sensory deprivation horror movies, with A Quiet Place releasing in the spring, before Bird Box came to Netflix in December. The former saw a world where people were unable to make a sound, while the latter was based instead on sight.
Sandra Bullock's Malorie lived in a world where looking at some mysterious, ever off-screen creature seemingly caused people to immediately commit suicide.
While some of the entries on this list are impressive for being able to maintain fear levels while taking place in the day, this was actively elevated because of it. With the whole point being that these monsters couldn't be looked at, the cover of darkness would have actually detracted from this. Though Bird Box came off as something of a lesser version of the Quiet Place concept, it still featured a fantastic sequence in which the young boy with Malorie was unsure what he was hearing.
The unseen creatures used noise to confuse, and imitated Malorie's voice, telling Boy and Girl (Julian Edwards and Vivien Lyra Blair) that they could remove their blindfolds, while the real Malorie was screaming not to. The film never actually showed the monsters, and never needed to because of the mistrust and tension scenes like this could create.
