10 Scariest Horror Movie Scenes Set In The Day

4. Michael Stalking Laurie - Halloween

With Halloween in 1978, John Carpenter inadvertently turned almost the entire horror genre into inferior versions not only of his film, but of Michael Myers. The bulky, slow-moving stalker became something of a cliché, but when it was done in 1978, it was done brilliantly.

There was no sense or logic to what Myers was doing, with his chalk-white mask being the perfect vessel for the idea of pure evil.

He wasn't going to stop, and the only way to get him to was apparently to kill him, which seemed all but impossible.

The scene in which The Shape stalked Laurie in the middle of the day is a great example of this. He wasn't waiting until dark to stay hidden, and the fact that he didn't care was unsettling and terrifying. He was on a mission with Laurie in his sights, and wasn't about to be held back by thoughts of right or wrong, or worries of being seen.
