Scarlett Johansson says NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU!

UPDATE: I've just found the source of where this story broke over at Page Six. It would seem that Woody Allen is actually on board to direct a segment, but it's unclear whether it will be a co-venture with Johansson or one of his own. Following in the footsteps of Natalie Portman and Drew Barrymore in the directors chair is Scarlett Johansson, as Slash Film report that she will be one of the directors shooting a segment on NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU. The 23 year old actress whose close relationship with director Woody Allen and his intimate style of film-making has probably inspired her to direct and well it's only a short segment, so it's less daunting than a full feature and it's a good place to start. She joins the following in what will be a 12 segment film of short stories all about finding love in New York... Zach Braff (GARDEN STATE) The Hughes Brothers (FROM HELL) Anthony Minghella (THE ENGLISH PATIENT) Chan-wook Park (OLDBOY) Joshua Marston (MARIA FULL OF GRACE) Mira Nair (VANITY FAIR) Brett Ratner (RUSH HOUR 3) German born director Fatih Akin, Isralien film-maker Yvan Attal, Chinese director Wen Jiang and Russian helmer Andrei Zvygintsev. Surprisingly, none of the directors were born in New York and what's really intriguing by the group of directors is the continental factor, with so many of them coming from abroad... with totally different filmic styles. Possibly even more surprising is that New York obsessive Woody Allen (and Scorsese & Lee I guess) is not directing a segment but then I'm pretty sure Allen will help Miss. Johansson out along the way with her first directing job.
