2. Powerless - The Crow (1994)

It's easy to see Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) wearing tape across his torso and arms and think he's only doing it to add to his gothic aesthetic, but no. 

Halfway through The Crow, when he avenges the death of his late girlfriend by killing the criminal Funboy (Michael Masse), Draven saves the life of Funboy's girlfriend, Darla (Anne Levine). 

It's directly following this scene that Draven's tape makes an appearance, but there's a reason for it. In a deleted scene, after absorbing the drugs from Darla's body to save her from an overdose, his healing powers are weakened - a side effect of coming back from the dead means that he loses strength with every person he heals. 

Though this subplot is explained in the deleted scene, it appears throughout the rest of the film, as Draven gets increasingly weaker and more injured as his quest for vengeance intensifies. It can't rain all the time, but damn.
