The run up to Christmas sees the release of the incredible looking Alien Anthology Blu-ray Boxset, and Bloody-Disgusting have been talking to Sigourney Weaver about the possibility of her signing on to any future 'Alien' projects.

A series she feels she has some unfinished business;

We were thinking about doing this fifth one and I didn€™t really want to go ahead and do it and do it on Earth, so we kind of left the sentence unfinished. there€™s something slightly unfinished to me about it. Again, it€™s not something I really sit around€ I would have liked to see Ripley try to have a normal life, try to find happiness, at least for a little while. I feel we owe her that.
She goes on, offering 'Alien' franchise fans just a little hope that she isn't done fighting the face-huggers just yet:

You know, it would be interesting for me to go back now and revisit the character, an older Ripley, but I can€™t really see how to do that. I think it€™s probably a better idea to do the prequel and start afresh with only whatever the alien community might be. In terms of the character, it would be awesome to be able to play a woman like Ripley at my age. I certainly think the audience would be fine with it. To show how capable an older person is in something difficult, in a situation that€™s difficult. So I don't know, life is a strange thing. Maybe something will pop up where I can maybe combine some of the elements that made Ripley so special.

Reading into her response, it seems Weaver has forgotten the events of the later franchise editions, considering she was killed at the end of the third, and then re-animated as an alien-blooded clone in the fourth and yet now she's suggesting she'd like to see Ripley live a "normal life". But then, she wouldn't be the first person in the world to push 'Alien Resurrection' out of their head...

In terms of a viable return, she is of course clutching at straws. Ridley Scott is gearing up to direct his 'Alien' prequel, set years before the events of the 1979 original, which originally was planned as a two film epic.
