Cameron Crowe€™s previous films, and obviously of course in his life itself. The former Rolling Stone journalist and director of cult favourite Say Anything and the semi-autobiographical Almost Famous is well known for his eclectic taste and use of music to enhance his films. For his first feature since 2005€™s Elizabethtown, Crowe has enlisted the not inconsiderable talents of Jónsi Birgisson, front man of popular Icelandic band Sigur Rós, to provide the score for We Bought A Zoo. Breaking the news on Twitter, TV editor for The A.V. Club, Todd VanDerWerff stated €œEverybody add him to your Oscar predictions all at once.€ Due for release in December this year, We Bought A Zoo is based on the memoir by Benjamin Mee that has been scripted for the screen by The Devil Wears Prada writer Aline Brosh McKenna. The story follows Mee (Matt Damon), a single father who after the death of his wife, relocates his family to renovate and re-open a struggling zoo. The film also co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Elle Fanning and Thomas Haden Church. Having previously used three tracks by Sigur Rós, Svefn-G-Englar, Agaetis Byrjun and The Nothing Song in the Tom Cruise starring Vanilla Sky, Crowe is no stranger to Jónsi€™s ethereal sound and quite unique vocal style. During the making of that film. Crowe is quoted as saying:

€œSigur Rós is one of the great bands to know this simple fact €” the best music creates a movie in your mind. Making €˜Vanilla Sky,€™ we played Sigur Rós constantly. It inspired us and gave us grooves that became part of the DNA of our own movie. But that€™s just us. Play Sigur Rós yourself. In every sound and song, they will reach deep into your soul. Sigur Rós is some of the best filmmaking you€™ll ever hear.€
