Simon Pegg's 10 Best Roles

9. Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott - Star Trek Series

Simon Pegg always claimed to be a geek at heart, and from his performances in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek series we can see he wasn't lying.

As we watch him fill the role of the transporter-revolutionising, engineering prodigy whose accent truly lives up to his name, we get the feeling that he was genuinely loving it. When he first appears on-screen, the humour and ease of engagement he displays is a perfect example of what we get throughout the series.

As a supporting character that gradually gains more attention, he played a key role in making this reboot feel alive. From the dynamic he shared with his tiny oyster companion Keenser (who may in fact be a tiny Nick Frost), to his fast friendship with Jaylah in Star Trek: Beyond, his performance bleeds character and depth.

Though a reboot is seemingly unlikely as of writing, we can all hope to see Pegg put on that red shirt once more.
