Sparrow's Back In The Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Super Bowl Teaser

A little Johnny goes a long way.

After the first teaser of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was curiously light on Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, fans could have been forgiven for thinking the second would be a positive Sparrow-fest. But that's not the case at all.

The Superbowl TV spot that has just landed is again mostly absent of the infamous drunken pirate, with more mythology building for Javier Bardem's Captain Salazar. There is a first look at Depp's Sparrow as he is now (albeit covered in mud), but it's no more than a cameo, and interestingly we get a look at the return of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner.

Here's the trailer...

A few observations here: the dead ruling the seas is good, but it's been done in the first POTC movie. This does at least look like it's on a totally different scale, though, to be fair.

Also, Turner is definitely neglecting his duties as Davy Jones' replacement, otherwise he wouldn't look gnarly and infected by the sea (that only happens if you don't do your job, as has already been established)...

And how Dead Meat is Geoffrey Rush's Barbosa? It's definitely not looking good for him.

Great use of Johnny Cash in his second high profile trailer of 2017, too.
