12. It Will Lead To Sinister Six
Rumour:
According to one apparent plot leak, the end-game plan is the same as it was when Sony were making The Amazing Spider-Man movies: the studio still want to make a Sinister Six movie.
It probably won't happen in this or the threequel, but the building will begin here.
Reaction:
Putting aside the TAS hangover and the issues Spider-Man 3 had with too many villains AND the unfortunate Suicide Squad precedent, a Sinister Six movie might not be entirely terrible. It would be if it didn't have Spider-Man involved, of course, because great supervillains are defined by their dynamic with the hero, but if Sony get a win with Venom, there's no way they won't try again with their long-mooted Sinister Six project.
If that meant we'd get more of Michael Mando's Scorpion and Michael Keaton's Vulture, then that might not be the worst thing, but it all depends on who Sony get for the cast.
