Just like that, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third phase has come to a close. With the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel have concluded the Infinity Saga and set the stage for a bold new era for their franchise - one that only really becomes apparent with the film's post-credits sequences.

There is a lot of world building going on in Far From Home, but Marvel and director Jon Watts elected to leave the biggest surprises of them all until after the credits had begun rolling. Both end up changing the landscape of the series completely, and should absolutely be seen firsthand before anyone gets the chance of spoiling them.

Trust us, you do not want to miss out.

3. Fury's Real Mission

So - the ending. The first post-credits scene involves an incredible re-emergence from J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson, but the second is equally as important. It reveals that the Nick Fury and Maria Hill we saw in Far From Home were actually Skrulls, and two important ones specifically - Ben Mendelsohn's Talos, and his wife Soren, portrayed by Sharon Blynn.

They explain why Fury was so easily manipulated by Quentin Beck, but the most important revelation of all is that the real Fury was in space all along, relaxing on a Skrull vessel. It's not difficult to glean that this is a pivotal moment, but - perhaps unsurprisingly - consulting the source material reveals that this is more important than most may initially comprehend.

Fury's involvement off-world makes sense given his connection to Captain Marvel, but this may actually go beyond her too. In the comics, Fury helped found the agency known as S.W.O.R.D., an organisation not unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., only with the sole purpose of monitoring and responding to extra-terrestrial activity. The agency is most frequently run by agent Abigail Brand, a green-haired, fiery tactician, and they've actually already been hinted at in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where agent Yo-Yo Rodriguez mistook the agency for "S.P.E.A.R." In the comics, S.P.E.A.R. was the Chinese counterpart of S.H.I.E.L.D., and not the "space division" Rodriguez mentions in the show's Season 5 premiere.

As for what Fury's really up to, it seems as though he's taken his mission to the cosmos, and seeing how S.H.I.E.L.D. plus space tends to equal S.W.O.R.D., it stands to reason that fans are in need of a primer of what the time are all about.
