In both the existing Spider-Man film series, the Osborn family is as important as the Parkers. Harry Osborn is a childhood friend in both versions, and the Green Goblin appears in both, though there is a divergence on who plays him.

In Raimi's universe, Norman Osborn was the original Goblin and Harry only took on the mantle after discovering that Peter is Spider-Man, while Webb's films transform Harry first, thanks to a weird medical mutation.

In Homecoming

Though it was initially rumoured that the Osborns would appear (with Matthew McConaughey linked to playing Norman for a time), the MCU is hanging fire on introducing the family for now. Again, it's a matter of attempting to avoid direct comparisons to what has gone before - which is a big them when Marvel talk about the production - and that's no bad thing.

We don't need another Green Goblin yet, and while OsCorp will inevitably turn up at some point, the longer they wait, the better.
