Spider-Man: Homecoming - 13 Biggest Rumours You Need To Know (October 7th)
Spidey cars, Mary Jane and even more villains?!
Despite the hundreds of comic book movies on the horizon ranging from The Batman (if it's happening, who knows) and Avengers: Infinity Wars to Deadpool 2 and X-Men: New Mutants, there's a good case for Spider-Man: Homecoming being the most hyped of all of them.
It's not just a matter of Marvel regaining rights to the character, or how beloved Spidey is generally, it's a perfect storm of hype off the back of his appearance in Civil War, Marvel's presence, great casting and lots of very compelling hints at what we're going to see when it comes out.
As an indication of how much interest there is in the film, the fog of rumours is particularly thick with Homecoming, ranging from the weird and wonderful to the certifiably definite. And wading through them to investigate which actually could be real (and which SHOULD be) is a particularly interesting question.
Here are the latest and biggest Spider-Man: Homecoming rumours you need to know about...
13. The Tinkerer Has Beef With Tony Stark
Hot on the heels of the news that Michael Chernus had joined Spider-Man: Homecoming as Phineas Mason aka The Tinkerer, Heroic Hollywood dropped some new details about the character’s role in the film.
Their source suggest that The Tinkerer is an ex-Stark Industries employee who was personally fired by Tony Stark a few years back, and who provides tech to The Vulture and The Shocker (possibly using Chitauri technology) to prove to Stark it was a mistake to fire him. Hell hath no fury like an employee scorned.
Rating: 9/10
It makes perfect sense: so far the MCU has been populated by villains who are mirror images of the heroes (especially in Iron Man movies) so having this sort of Edward Nigma/Bruce Wayne dynamic follows the model.
And the recovered Chitauri tech also fits, since that's just recently been explored in both Age Of Ultron AND Luke Cage.
