1. The Pacing Is A Tad Rushed
If there's one minor quibble to be had - and it really is minor - it's that Into the Spider-Verse is so excited to unspool its multiverse-spanning story that it occasionally feels a little too breathless for its own good.
There's one dramatic beat in particular in the middle of the movie that feels weirdly glossed over despite its obvious importance in Miles Morales' (Shameik Moore) life, and by the end of the movie it feels like more of a footnote than it probably should.
Also, the introduction of the more novel "Spider-People" - namely Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn) and Spider-Noir (Nicolas Cage) - is rather on the expedient side. Considering the sheer number of characters the film has to juggle, though, it's easily forgiven.
Given that the movie already clocks in at a fairly robust 117 minutes, it's already verging on the higher end of young kids' attention spans, though perhaps a little trimming from the more prolonged first act might've given these other plots and characters more time to breathe.
But again, this is a minor gripe in a film that gets virtually everything right. Here's why you absolutely must see Into the Spider-Verse...
