Spider-Man: No Way Home: 24 WTF Moments
Breaking down the craziest Spider-Man movie ever.
The wait has felt like a sure eternity, but Spider-Man: No Way Home is finally, finally out now around the globe, and while certainly not a perfect film by any stretch, it largely delivers on the fan-serving potential of its premise, to say the least.
While it's arguable whether or not No Way Home is the best Spider-Man film to date - for this critic's money, it's probably still Into the Spider-Verse or Spider-Man 2 - it's quite undeniably the wackiest, wildest, and yes, the most chock full of WTF moments.
Takings its multiversal setup and absolutely running with the ball, this is a superhero movie like no other, keenly indulging fans' every last whim yet in a manner that's actually thoughtful and entertaining - for the most part, anyway.
And so, from surprise cameos to not-so-surprising ones, devastating deaths scenes, and every nutty touchstone in-between, these are the 24 biggest WTF moments from the most hype film of the year.
Naturally it goes without saying that MAJOR SPOILERS will follow for basically every aspect of the movie, so proceed at your own risk if you haven't seen it yet...
24. MJ's Full Name Is Michelle Jones Watson
An unexpected moment occurs right at the start of the movie when Peter (Tom Holland), MJ (Zendaya), and Ned (Jacob Batalon) are taken into police custody to answer for the claims that Peter was responsible for Mysterio's (Jake Gyllenhaal) death and also caused the London drone attack.
MJ is expectedly surly to the cops, who nevertheless refer to her as "Michelle Jones Watson" - or perhaps Michelle Jones-Watson - before MJ pipes up and insists that she doesn't go by that surname.
MJ doesn't elaborate on why, but it's fair to assume that it's related to some aspect of her upbringing. Either way, it's an interesting nod to the character's more famed moniker, and should hopefully shut the MJ complainers up a little.
