Spider-Man: Ranking All The Movie Costumes Worst To Best
11. The Amazing Spider-Man (1977) TV Series
In 1977, Spider-Man swung onto American television sets with the premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man. The series began with a pilot movie and continued until July, 1979 with only 13 episodes airing. While it was a ratings success, CBS gave it the axe a bit prematurely.
The series was relatively true to the source material featuring familiar characters J. Jonah Jameson, Aunt May, Robbie Robertson, and of course, Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
The production quality for the show lands it in the "pretty cheesy" class, but given this was the late 1970s and superhero television was still in its infancy, that's not too surprising. Spider-Man's webbing was basically white rope and there wasn't much money put into the costume.
The spandex suit looked much like Ditko's early drawings, but the eyes were a bit off-putting. They had mirrored lenses, which didn't look good against the bright red of the mask. He also wore an enlarged silver bracelet on his right wrist, which matched his silver belt that looks like a knock-off Batman Utility Belt... only silver. Considering this was the '70s, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.
