Although this ones a golden oldie, it would tie in with the MCU timeline since it bridges the gap between Peter Parkers high school and college days and introduces key supporting characters Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy, who need to make their debuts in the Avengers movie universe at some point.
Doctor Octopus is our villain and Spidey is caught up in a race against time to prevent Aunt May from succumbing to a mysterious illness. Its fairly standard Spider-Man stuff, but this story arc will forever remain a part of comic book history thanks to Ditkos unforgettable artwork.
All three issues play host to imagery thats nothing short of iconic, particularly that cover illustration depicting Spidey trapped beneath a structure while submerged in water. Imagine that translated into a heart-thumping cinematic set piece.
