Spider-Man Homecoming: 5 Scenes We Need (And 5 We Don't)

1. A Brand New Movie Villain Is Introduced

For those of you keeping score, we€™ve had no less than 5 Spider-Man movies and 2 different (technically 3 if you count Spider-Man 3's) Green Goblin portrayals in just over 15 years. While Norman and Harry Osborn are hugely pivotal characters in both the comics and the original movie trilogy, they've been overused on-screen, and an appearance by either one in the the reboot would be an unwelcome shot of deja vu.

Thankfully, both Amazing Spider-Man movies at least attempted to diversify Spidey€™s villain roster, with the Lizard and Electro making their debuts to varying degrees of success. The latter sank the franchise, while the former was a serviceable, relatable villain with an endearing plight that was neatly connected with Peter€™s own backstory.

Spider-Man: Homecoming reboot should take a leaf out of this book, but dive deep into Spidey€™s incredibly unique villain roster and craft a story that doesn't just focus on the hero. We€™ve seen a ton of Spider-Man over the years, and like Batman, audiences just get why he exists - it doesn't need explaining. This allows Homecoming to afford more screen time to its main antagonist, which hopefully means we€™ll get a compelling, well-reasoned - and most importantly, brand new - nemesis for Spidey to face.

As this article was turned in, news broke that Michael Keaton may end up playing The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which ticks this box nicely.
