7. Family From Hell - Star Trek: Generations

Picard never had a family off his own - the closest he got was having a brother and nephew, but even they were killed off at the beginning of Star Trek: Generations. So when he enters the Nexus, a mysterious energy ribbon where your wildest fantasies and dreams come true, it is hardly surprising that his dream would be wife and children to come home to. So does his fantasy family fit the 2.4 children mould? Does it consist of the cliché family you might see in a catalogue or '50s sofa advert? No, because it€™s Picard and he€™s into the classics and archaeology - his perfect family is a 19th century, aristocratic wet dream. Complete with frills, curtseys and children saying €˜€™papa,€™€™ the whole dream sequence better resembles a nightmare. Lucky Picard doesn't stay there for too long. Why would Picard's ultimate fantasy be a Victorian Christmas? When did he ever suggest that was the kind of life he dreamt about before we saw this?
