Thinking back to the title sequence of the original Star Trek series, one image always stuck in my mind Balok, an alien representative of the First Federation encountered in the season one episode The Corbonite Manoeuvre. Wits his large, cat-like, imposing eyes, stretched face and down-turned mouth, Balok looked like a pre-scream version of artist Evard Munchs The Scream. I would love to see an encounter with Balok, or another member of his race in the new film. With todays effects, Baloks ship, the mile long, spherical Fesarius, would look amazing, a massive vessel dwarfing the Enterprise. The background to Balok too could provide an interesting storyline in the aforementioned episode the Enterprise made first contact with the First Federation through Balok. This could give us a chance to see Chris Pines Kirk flex his diplomatic muscles. The race themselves never appeared in Star Trek again so thats definitely a chance for writers to use the initial concept as a starting block for anew adventure unique to anything weve seen before.
