This one is super unlikely, but it's something I'd love to see anyway, even if it might be a bit premature with only the third film from the reboot - what about introducing a link to one of the very best (and in my opinion the best) iterations of Star Trek, The Next Generation. In interviews, Lindelof has hinted that this is a direction he would like to go in, stating "You cant talk about Trek and not talk about the Borg, and certainly about Q...I wouldnt mind getting towards the end of our run on Star Trek, maybe baby Picard could be born. There has to be some sort of crossover were not thinking of." As Lindelof says, it's not really something they're thinking of, but even a cursory reference to this universe would be a clever way to keep the future in our minds, as the current take on Trek might begin to wind down or transform into something else after three films.
