George Lucas has been having a moan about The Force Awakens. His criticism? It wasn't how he would have done it. That's hardly surprising, but it's a tad ungrateful considering the Rancor-sized sack of money he received for signing over the rights to Disney. Somewhat inevitably, fans have queued up to take potshots at the bearded wonder, mainly focusing on his prequel trilogy and about people in glass houses throwing stones. However, should Episodes I - III be consigned to history? Can these huge chunks of the property be written off entirely without thought? In short no, because there are some redeeming elements that actually belong among the best moments of the franchise. The definitive scenes of Star Wars are already well-documented, but is it really fair to judge the saga solely on Eps IV - VII? It's wrong to ignore the fact that the entire thing has an embarrassment of riches, and to a certain extent the better moments of the prequels have been wiped out thanks to blinkered wholesale hatred. There are parts of those films that deserve to be recognized as essential components of the mammoth legacy. So take your opinions out of lightspeed and let me take you on a tour of what the fanbase might be missing out on (with a guest appearance from the least-liked chapter of the classic trilogy for good measure)...
