With the mind shattering news that Disney was going to be bringing Star Wars back to the big screen in 2015, geeks across the globe rejoiced. Finally, after 30 years, they were going to find out what their heroes from that galaxy far, far away, had been up to in those long, dark, Hayden Christensen infested years. It was also announced that, in addition to the main storyline, Disney planned to produce stand alone movies. Wait, what? Both Josh Trank and Gareth Edwards have signed on to direct the first two installments in this spin-off series. Although no official word has been reported as to the focus of these films, speculation and rumour (something any self respecting Star Wars fans prides themselves on) are rampant. With such a rich tapestry of characters and storylines, the possibilities literally seem endless. While it would appear that there are some plots that seem to be shoo-ins for being made into a movie, the broad spectrum of the Star Wars universe allows for so much more. Might fans finally see Lando Calrissian long before he became "respectable"? Or perhaps they'll be treated to a retrospective of a young and impossibly thin Jabba the Hutt, hanging on the beach with his friends, "Jersey Shore" style?
