5. The Concept Art Teases A Gritty Battle

These ginormous lenses will be used to capture, by the looks of some concept art, at least one big battle involving everything from spaceships to foot soldiers. It€™s of a muddy, foggy and damp planet. Rebel spaceships are flying low, as the brave men and women of their Alliance charge forward into the fog towards €“ presumably €“ legions of Stormtroopers armed with heavy artillery. This imagery somewhat recalls the D-Day scene from Saving Private Ryan and the brutal depiction of war that it showed. Bullets to the head, loss of hearing, blood mixed with mud. Without a single Jedi on hand to help out, this is what the grittier side of the galactic civil war looks like. It€™s not entirely clear exactly when this battle will slot into the movie, although it's a fair assumption it'll be the big battle teased in the opening crawl of Episode IV, where the Rebels won their first victory against the Empire by €˜striking from a hidden base.€™ That battle would surely be the last big conflict of the movie. It€™ll either be that, or an earlier scuffle that didn€™t go so well. Only time will tell, but for now the concept art is enough to pique fan interest. And few would say no to some brutal, bloody battles in Star Wars.
