The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith are films that exist. Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent on making them, and they were viewed and subsequently critiqued and ridiculed the world over. Lucasfilm has to live with that as they press forwards with a busy slate of new Star Wars movies. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ewan McGregors Obi-Wan Kenobi had a small voiceover cameo, giving fans a glimpse of how the new movies will nod toward the prequels. Lucasfilm arent going to ignore George Lucass least-loved trilogy, but instead theyre trying to tie them in to the new films. Perhaps the idea with scenes like this is to somehow legitimise the prequels and improve their standing with fans. Already, this seems to be working. Fans have been crying out for more Ewan McGregor Star Wars appearances, and there was even curiosity online about the idea of Hayden Christensen one of the worst things about the prequels possibly returning as well. The reaction would have been a lot stronger if it had come directly after Episode III's release, wouldn't it?
