11. All The "Homages" To The Original Trilogy (The Force Awakens)

There's a lot of disagreement among fans as to whether or not The Force Awakens is a loving homage to the original trilogy, especially A New Hope, or a straight-up ripoff.

Just a few of the similarities include: the protagonists growing up on a desert planet, droids that hold vital resistance data, a large planet-like enemy fortress with one small weakness, there's a trench run, a Cantina scene, Hux = the new Moff Tarkin, Kylo = the new Vader, Phasma = the new Boba Fett and so on and so on.

Some fans are more forgiving than others, but after waiting so long for a quality Star Wars movie, many were understandably mad that they didn't put more effort into crafting an original story and basically just cribbed from their past successes.
