Star Wars 7 Cast: Predicting The Characters

The biggest casting news of the year is in, but what does it all mean?

Today the internet exploded; the long awaited casting announcement for Star Wars: Episode VII was finally revealed, earlier than expected (everyone had May 4th pegged right?). Looking at the actors involved, this looks far removed from the likes of Hayden Christensen and Samuel L Jackson. Fans have begun to have hope that we're finally going to get that new Star Wars film we were all hoping for back in 1999. Just look at that photo released on Facebook earlier today; aren€™t you tingling with excitement?
The class and gravitas of Max von Sydow, the geek-heaven-casting that is Andy Serkis, genuinely fresh and exciting actors like Domhnall Gleeson and the return of all our old heroes. Until December 2015 comes, we'll spend months debating what exciting roles these actors can be playing and pondering where the main heroes of the original trilogy might be thirty years on. Who isn't buzzing to see more Luke, Han and Leia on the big screen? Here at WhatCulture.com we are going to throw caution to the wind and start predicting what these new characters might be. The expanded universe, kick-started with the excellent Thrawn trilogy, may have been tossed out of the window but that doesn't mean there might be an element of inspiration taken from those stories.
