A couple of weeks ago it emerged that Lucasfilm was looking to add a character by the name of Mara to the movie, which immediately led to speculation that it might be Mara Jade.

Now That Hashtag Show, the same source for the Mara news, have details of a new casting call for another female lead, this time by the name of Caro, described as a "leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly. ”

The call also notes that casting director Nikki Gold is looking for an "ethnic female" with a preference for an African-American, aged 18-26, with Caro having a "captivating naturalness and ease to her manner".

There's certainly scope for the character to fit into the Resistance, given their small numbers after The Last Jedi, but that could be as a potential new Jedi or simply another role. Filming is set to begin this summer, so it shouldn't be too long before we get some confirmed casting news.
