Or maybe he acts like a Jedi, but hes really an ex-Imperial plant. Or maybe hes just a slimy ex-Imperial. Or maybe hes Padme Amidalas dad! Okay, some less wild speculation: Hes old enough to remember the Old Republic. We can hope he isnt a Jedi, but given the number of secret Jedi who are revealed as having survived the Empire in the EU, I wouldnt count on it. There are ways of wiggling around Order 66. And who doesnt love a guy with a lightsaber? So hell be tough, having survived the Empire, and hell have strong opinions. Hell probably be a friend of Luke if hes a Jedi, and a friend of Leia if hes not. OR, going in a completely different direction, maybe hell be the Solo daughters Obi-Wan! Cool or lame?
