Star Wars Episode 9 Is Adding ANOTHER New Character
The trilogy closer keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Although production has been underway for around a month, Lucasfilm are still looking to add characters to Star Wars Episode IX.
Just a day after word broke of Matt Smith being cast in a 'key role' in the movie, That Hashtag Show have details of a new casting call, looking for a female aged 27-35 for the part.
According to their source, the role of Karina is "a younger Charlize Theron with street smarts and a sharp wit." Lucasfilm want someone with a good sense of humor, solid comedic timing, and a strong voice.”
It'll be a supporting role, and one that sounds like it'll be adding some comic relief to the movie, although quite how she'll fit in is anyone's guess. Alongside all the returning players, the movie has already added Smith, Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Ackie, and Dominic Monaghan, which is a lot of new faces for the final movie.
That might be a little easier now though, with THS noting that the role of Caro - now referred to as Lucy - has been downgraded to supporting from lead (it's expected that's who Ackie is playing), while the character of Mara no longer appears to be in the movie. Much like Rian Johnson did with The Last Jedi, it seems as though Abrams is beefing up the parts of existing characters, while still fitting in the newbies.
