2. Finn Is Duped, Captured And Tortured

Finn's arc in Episode VIII will apparently see him form a romantic tryst with a new character - a Republic contact called Chala and played by Kelly Marie Tran.

Unfortunately for him, it turns out that Chala is an Empire infiltrator, working with Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma and she deceives him after he is given the shield codes for the Republic homeland.

As a result, the Empire fleet invades the planet, taking Finn, Poe and Leia hostage and torturing Finn to try and draw Rey out of hiding.

Rating: 2/10

It's already a widely discredited theory, even though there is some poetic resonance in Rey being drawn out by the capture of her friends. It happened in The Empire Strikes after all.

But it's a little rote, and it still feels more likely that the Laura Dern rumour is how the plot actualy unfolds.
