Star Wars: Everything We Know So Far About The Obi-Wan TV Show
7. Ewan McGregor Will Return To The Role
Famously, Ewan McGregor has had to lie through his back teeth for quite a while about returning as Kenobi, a character he last played in 2005's Revenge of the Sith.
The secretive nature of all things Lucasfilm has meant he's had to duck and dodge the question, with varying degrees of plausibility, ever since Disney put their money down for the company in 2012. He was eventually put out of this awkward misery when an official announcement was made at the D23 Expo in 2019.
As McGregor, now approaching 50, is still impossibly young-looking, the make-up team could have quite the job on their hands to make it seem like he's turning into Alec Guinness.
Given the Scottish actor's apparent refusal to succumb to the ageing process, it seems likely the series will take place roughly halfway between Episodes III and IV. Some time will have passed, but there will be some time still to go before the events of A New Hope.
One thing is almost certain though: his character will surely be going by the alias of "Ben" Kenobi, given that he later tells Luke that Obi-Wan is a name he's not heard for a long time. Perhaps we may even get an explanation of how he's forgotten how to pronounce it...
