Star Wars: Han Solo Spin-Off Might Be Delayed

Are Disney now looking for their usual December slam dunk?

So much for a return to the traditional Star Wars May release slot. After both The Force Awakens and Rogue One did well in their December slots - and with Episode VIII shunted back to fit the same pattern - it looks like Disney think they have the right model for releasing their tentpole space epics.

In light of those three releases, the Han Solo spin-off coming in May 2018 (just five months after Episode VIII's release) looks a little odd, but a new rumour suggests that won't be the case for long.

As per Making Star Wars it looks like it's also on the move:

"Our sources in the theater industry have received a release date of December 13th, 2018 for Star Wars: Han Solo. We are not saying the release date has changed but it could signify that a release date shift for Star Wars: Han Solo is in the works."

That's by no means a firm confirmation - as MakingStarWars are clear to state - but it really does make sense that Disney would continue to seek a festive release slot after enjoying so much box office success the past two years. And there's definitely something nice about Star Wars becoming a Christmas tradition.

Maybe someday they'll even release a special Christmas themed episode or something, to really drive the link home...
