11. We've Seen This Mon Mothma Before

One of the big moments of the Rogue One trailer, getting just as much love as those AT-ATs and that shot of the Death Star, was the surprising return of Mon Mothma, a character who first appeared in Return of the Jedi. 

There was a lot of talk about how perfect the casting was, because the new Mon Mothma looks incredibly similar to the old one. As it turns out, though, there's a good reason for that, and we have actually seen this Mon Mothma before. 

The character in Rogue One is played by Genevieve O'Reilly, who portrayed the character in Revenge of the Sith. Her speaking part was cut from the final film, though she does still make a small appearance, and now over a decade later she's back in the role.
