12. Galen Erso's Cliched Death

When the rebels assault Krennic and his men on Eadu, Galen is caught in an explosion. However, Jyn gets one last moment with her father before he dies, in a howlingly cliched, cheeseball moment that's clearly supposed to be affecting and dramatic.

This reeks of a scene that was tinkered with in re-shoots, because it feels so generic and tailored towards the biggest, most general audience possible.

Fantastic an actor though Mads Mikkelsen is, even he struggles to make the scene not play out as corny. It ends up feeling rushed and not "earned" than if more time was spent exploring Jyn's ambivalent relationship with her absent father.
