Star Wars: Solo Trailer 2 Reactions - 8 Ups & 3 Downs

FINALLY, a trailer that does it real justice...

Quite why LucasFilm decided to release a trailer on a Sunday is anyone's guess, but there've been some decisions in the Solo marketing campaign that have left a lot of people scratching their heads. Like the fact that there wasn't one for about two years.

But as we head towards the film's premiere at Cannes on May 15th, we now have a second full trailer for Ron Howard's "fun" Star Wars prequel spin-off and it was well worth the wait, mostly. It's enthusiastically packed with action, gags, charm and great-looking effects and it should be cause for confidence among fans.

What should be slightly concerning for Disney is the fact that the trailer wasn't even trending worldwide on Twitter a couple of hours after it was released. Could that have been down to WrestleMania? Or is it still fair to say that they've got more of a struggle on their hands to get even the most ardent fans interested?

Let's hope it's more of the former, though looking at social media, there does seem to be a lot of surprise at just how good it looks. That's no more than a reflection of poor marketing so far and it will be an abject shame if less people go and see it than it deserves because of that. Because it really does look great.

Anyway, here's the trailer...

It's good, but there are definitely some reservations still, which might explain some of the mooted response on social media. So let's look into what worked and what doesn't quite.
