It might seem odd that sci-fi's first couple would continue to veil their affection for one another behind silly bravado, but the alternative would be that they've both mellowed with old age, and that's just an awful thing to have to entertain. But then, who is even to say they're still together at this point? If you think Han Solo is steady husband material you probably haven't been paying attention: he's the archetypal cool absent dad. He'd turn up on weekends with wildly inappropriate presents that Leia would have to limit the damage of and pick the pieces up, wondering what she ever saw in him in the first place. If that's the case - be honest, it sounds compelling - their getting back together in the heat of action would work rather nicely. Well, either that or it's the last words they say to each other before Han takes his last breath...
