Trailers often use different takes than the versions that end up in the final cut, and this may be one of those moments. The first time we saw Rey extend her hand to help Finn up was in the second teaser, and the two of them are the only ones in the frame. But by the time we get to the first American TV spot, we've got our new favourite droid hanging out in the corner of the same shot. You can tell from the lighting and the sand on Finns face that its actually a different take, so they haven't just added BB-8 in with CGI (which would be way worse). But it still means they either planned to shoot the scene both with and without her in the frame, or they went back and shot it again after deciding it was missing something. With her £130/$150 price tag, BB-8's sure to be one of Disney's most lucrative toys this holiday season. So they clearly want to have her in as much of the film/trailers as possible.
