Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 6 Theories About Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke

By Mike Morgan /

5. A Smokescreen For The Real Villain

More likely is the theory that Snoke is initially presented as the leader of the First Order, but he's actually a figurehead rather than the true commander; behind the scenes, a much more frightening mastermind is pulling the strings. For a similar idea in a recent movie, think of Ben Kingsley's Mandarin in Iron Man 3. If this theory turns out to be true, it not only provides the movie with a good, old-fashioned plot twist, but it also means that the main villain of the sequel trilogy isn't going to be called Snoke, which might be a blessing. Of course, if there is another villain in the movie, Disney is doing a great job of keeping his casting secret. That objection is the main reason for putting this otherwise interesting theory so low down on the list.
