Maybe it's because of Gleeson's cheekbones, but another theory claims that First Order General Hux is the son of the infamous Grand Moff Tarkin. Ignoring the slight physical resemblance, what advantages would there be to such a relationship? Essentially, making General Hux the son of Tarkin (and again, the name "Hux" would have to be his first name for this theory to work) is a "world-building" type of background detail. It provides a sense of continuity between the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy that reassures audiences that they're still watching Star Wars, that it's all one long story. Also, it provides that comforting link by merely dropping a name, avoiding dull exposition that would be potentially confusing to new fans. Those who remember the Original Trilogy (and that's a whole lot of people) would get the reference, and those who don't wouldn't even notice there was a nod to the past. Lastly, if the persistent leaks about there being a Death Star-lite superweapon in The Force Awakens pan out, then it would only be proper for Hux Tarkin to be in command of it. Especially if he gets to say something like "Abandon the station now, in our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances!" Now that would be a punch-the-air-in-sheer-joy moment and no mistake!
