It might be a slightly unnerving shot, but the in progress sequence for Chewbacca's costume - beautifully accompanied by the revelation that the team have to do a lot of touch-ups because everyone wants to hug the character - shows the level of detail that goes into producing him.

It must have been tempting to simply CGI the character at some point rather than agonising over hand-stitching in individual hairs, but you get the sense that it was never an option for Abrams. And rightly so.
