Star Wars: The Force Awakens Ending - 10 Implications For Episode VIII

9. Poe Will Fill The Han Solo Vacuum

The removal of Han Solo from the equation was as devastating as it was inevitable, but at least there's a ready made replacement already. Poe Dameron may have had surprisingly limited screen-time, but his swagger and attitude made it seem like he was already channelling Solo's spirit before his heart had even been pierced. He will inevitably fill the anti-hero leading man role, while Rey will play the traditional hero and Finn the slightly bumbling third element. More specifically, without personal investment in the core story, Dameron will be a powerful wildcard - as Solo was in A New Hope - who will no doubt get the coolest lines and lead the coolest set-pieces. And in his relationship with BB-8 - one of the most exciting elements of Episode VIII for further exploration - we'll see Han and Chewie's bromance replayed.
