The Last Jedi's trailer packs a ton of dialogue - a lot more than you realise (we'll discuss that later!) - and among it, we can hear Rey's answer to Luke's simple question "What do you see?"

She replies with "light... darkness... a balance", clearly indicating that one of the big ideas started by The Force Awakens - bringing balance to the force after the emergence of the First Order - will be further explored in The Last Jedi.

Moreover, Rey's words almost directly mirror the words spoken by Supreme Leader Snoke in The Force Awakens' debut trailer. The villain mentions "an awakening", "the dark side", and "the light", right before the Falcon - Rey at the helm - zooms into frame.

What's interesting here is that the order in which the words are spoken is reversed. In The Force Awakens' teaser, the word "light" is spoken last, and the movie followed this like a command, turning out to be a fairly breezy, fun-filled and easy to watch adventure.

In The Last Jedi's trailer, however, "darkness" comes after light, implying that darkness will be overpowering the light in the full movie, which falls in line with the incredibly bleak tone that the trailer ends on.

Speaking of which - let's move on to the three big differences between both trailers...
