Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - 8 Burning Questions Left By The Trailer

8. Is This Sandy Planet One We've Seen Before?

Carrying on a trend that began with The Force Awakens' teaser trailer and continued with The Last Jedi's, the first thing we hear in The Rise Of Skywalker's trailer is the sound of a character breathing heavily. We then see Rey standing on an enormous sandy plain, before drawing out a lightsaber and facing down a ship.

This appears to be a pivotal moment in the film, with the trailer taking its time to build up to the confrontation between Rey and her mystery opponent - more than half of the trailer is focused on this scene alone. But where exactly is this action taking place?

Naturally, three of the big contenders are the dry, sandy planets we've seen in Star Wars movies before: Geonosis, Tatooine, and Jakku. Geonosis featured prominently in the prequel trilogy, Tatooine in the original trilogy, and Jakku in The Force Awakens.

The movie is being billed as the culmination of the entire Star Wars saga, so incorporating famous locales like Geonosis and Tatooine would make sense. Or, if the movie will find Rey searching for more answers about her past, then having her return home to Jakku would be fitting.

Alternatively, this could just be a different part of any other Star Wars planet we've seen before, or even a brand-new planet. But another new desert locale seems a little uninspired, particularly as Jakku was introduced just four years ago.
