It€™s not always easy to find a comedy duo that just clicks, but Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin definitely have that special spark that might just ignite an idea for a new film starring the Saturday Night Live rivals and Oscar co-hosts. It€™s all up in the air at the moment, but Deadline have described the potential comedy as a cross between "Trading Places" and "Grumpy Old Men" which Adam Shankman (Hairspray, upcoming Rock of Ages) would helm. Plot, schedule and all the other important details are unclear, however, the idea was apparently conceived when Shankman, channel hopping on his TV, came across the Martin and Baldwin duo on Saturday Night Live. He thought the two good friends would be a great pairing for a new film. As if making movies is that easy. Strangely Shankman doesn't seem to be aware that Martin and Baldwin recently teamed up in It€™s Complicated as middle-aged men vying for the heart of Meryl Streep, and Martin made a memorable appearance on Baldwin's show 30 Rock. Shankman himself has worked with Baldwin on Rock of Ages, and Martin on Cheaper By The Dozen 2 so maybe it's the fact he has never worked with them in a movie together which he wants to explore. Who is going to write it? What will the story be about? Who else will be on board? These questions remain unanswered for now, but with two comedy heavyweights leading the movie, it will be interesting to see how the idea comes together.
