The Plot: Exploring the 'what-if' scenario of a second American civil war, Bushwick finds the titular Brooklyn neighbourhood under attack by a mysterious military force.

The film follows a grad student (Brittany Snow) and an ex-Marine (Dave Bautista) as they struggle to survive this hostile warzone.

The Buzz: While Bushwick probably won't be a frontrunner come the Oscars next year, it's shaping up to be a timely slice of B-movie entertainment spearheaded by a thoroughly engaging Dave Bautista.

America has been enduring a widespread political civil war since last November, with Trump supporters on one side and his detractors on the other, so Bushwick couldn't have come at a better time.

Variety called the film "violent and provocative", heaping praise on its leading man who, apparently, is a "serious action star in the making".

Bushwick does not yet have a wide release date.
