If you saw these scenes coming, you're lying. Probably.

There are few things more exciting in a movie than witnessing a scene you never saw coming - a moment that surprises everyone out of nowhere and, best of all, delivers the damn goods.

While shock value for shock value's sake doesn't usually work, there's absolutely something to be said for a surprising scene that jolts the audience out of their complacency and assures them that anything can happen.

And that's absolutely true of these scenes in these 20 recent movies, each of which caught every single one of us off guard. That is to say, if you saw these scenes coming, you're probably lying.

They range from the outrageously WTF to the unexpectedly hilarious, insanely violent, and everything else in between.

Each of them dared to do something nobody could've anticipated from the plot or marketing, and in an era where it feels like we know way too much about movies before we watch them, that's a damn fine thing.

And so, remember that there's always the opportunity for a film, good or bad, to bamboozle you with something insane totally out of nowhere...

20. Dr. Kelson's Iron Maiden Dance - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

If the 28 Years Later movies have told us anything so far, it's clearly to expect the unexpected moving forward.

The second film in the new planned trilogy, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, climaxed in a way just about nobody could've possibly predicted.

First off, villain Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) coerces Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) into posing as Satan in order to help cement Jimmy's leadership over his underlings known as the Fingers.

And boy, Kelson sure puts on a show alright, donning a ton of makeup, setting a huge fire, and singing and dancing to Iron Maiden's anthemic "Number of the Beast."

For good measure, he also takes the opportunity to blow hallucinogens into the faces of the Jimmies, causing them to trip balls as they observe "Satan" making his presence known.

Sometimes a movie gives you something you never knew you wanted, and that's absolutely the case with this gloriously unhinged sequence. Take a bow, Ralph Fiennes.
