6. One of Them Days

At the start of 2025, few were expecting much from One of Them Days, a buddy comedy starring Keke Palmer and SZA as two friends who race to get rent money after one of their boyfriends blows through it.

Between its January release date - ever an iffy prospect for non-prestige fare - and the general struggle of the buddy comedy at the box office, this seemed like a film set to flop or at-best underperform before enjoying more success on streaming.

But One of Them Days was actually one of last year's most surprising success stories, grossing $51.8 million against a $14 million budget - an especially astonishing result considering its R rating.

Propelled by strong reviews and a mighty "A-" CinemaScore, the comedy had a leggy box office run which outpaced even the most optimistic expectations. 

As such, by last June a sequel was announced to be in development - hopefully they call it "Another One of Them Days."
