4. Sketch
Sketch is another film you couldn't really be blamed for knowing nothing about - this low-budget fantasy comedy about a girl's sketches coming to life was released theatrically last summer with precious little marketing from Angel Studios, so who could've expected much from it at all?
But the secret sauce here is the film's mind-bogglingly low $3 million budget, especially considering the profiles of main cast members Tony Hale and D'Arcy Carden and also the film's extensive VFX sequences.
Sketch ultimately went on to gross $10.8 million - almost quadruple its admittedly tiny budget, likely aided by both strong critical reviews ever since its premiere at TIFF 2024 and a hefty "A-" CinemaScore.
If Angel put more marketing juice behind this one it's easy to picture it doing even better, but as it stands it feels like a film destined to blow up on streaming sooner rather than later once the right folk discover it.
